Avid Rachel teaches 2nd grade to write shelf talkers!

Rachel Watkins, mama to two Chase Street Tree Frogs and bookseller extraordinaire at Avid Bookshop, visited all three of our second grade classes to teach them how to write a special kind of book review called a shelf talker–you know, those cute little cards hanging up at the bookstore that tell you the employees’ favorites.

Well, now we’ve got shelf talkers stuck all over our shelves at school, too, so if you visit our library, you’ll have plenty of excellent recommendations from our second graders to help you choose the perfect book!

Six more weeks of winter, or an early spring?

To celebrate Groundhog Day in the library last week, our PreK through 3rd grade students enjoyed some holiday fun integrated with narrative, informational, and persuasive reading and writing activities.
